Presider: As we honor Mary today as the Mother of God, we mark this 51st World Day of Prayer for Peace across the Catholic Church with its theme, “Migrants and Refugees: men and women in search for peace.” Let us join Mary as we come to the Father in prayer.
- For the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for Bishop Ryan and the clergy, that they may be richly blessed with good health and contentment as we give thanks for their wonderful and fruitful ministry among us and that they may faithfully bring forth Jesus Christ in our world, we pray.
- That Christ our peace may silence the thunder of strife and war at this time, we pray.
- For all peoples under Mary’s care, that in the coming year they may know peace, we pray.
- For all families celebrating a new year, that they may share the happiness of the family of Nazareth and that the prayers of Mary, Mother of God, we can live in peace and harmony, with respect and tenderness for everyone, we pray.
- For the sick, the poor, the persecuted and abandoned ones, that they may be consoled by our Mother’s powerful protection, we pray.
- For the departed, that God may grant them peace, especially those who have died in 2017,, we pray.
