Wednesday, April 1, 2026 | 6:00 P.M. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral, Saipan
As we enter the solemn heart of Holy Week, the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa invites all the faithful to gather for one of the most beautiful and significant liturgies of the year: The Mass of Chrism.
A Celebration of Unity and Service
On this Holy Wednesday, we come together as one family under the guidance of our shepherd, Bishop Romeo Convocar. This Mass is a profound expression of our diocesan unity, bringing together the clergy, religious, and laity from every parish across the Northern Mariana Islands.
The Blessing of the Holy Oils
During this sacred liturgy, Bishop Convocar will consecrate the holy oils that will be used in our sacramental life throughout the coming year:
• The Oil of Catechumens: For those preparing for Holy Baptism.
• The Oil of the Sick: To bring comfort and healing to the infirm.
• The Sacred Chrism: Used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders.
Renewal of Priestly Promises
In a moving moment of shared commitment, the priests of our diocese will stand before the Bishop and the people of God to renew the promises they made at their ordination, reaffirming their dedication to Christ and His Church.
You are Invited
The Chrism Mass is not just for the clergy—it is a celebration for the entire “Local Church.” All lay people are encouraged to attend and witness the beauty of our traditions. Come and be strengthened by this encounter with the Holy Spirit as we prepare for the Great Easter Triduum.
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
